Went for group lunch on a Sunday afternoon and I had their Market Prix Fixe. The Pretzel Talapia had great flavor. The green beans were delicious. It was a wonderful meal and was priced decently. Server was slow to take our order but after that, service was on point. Plan to go there again.
The atmosphere is nautical our server was prompt to refill our drinks and was friendly and efficient. The food was flavorful and the portions were small. Prices are similar to down town Chicago with out the portions.
I am a lawyer and host small lunch presentations from time to time. I gave this Mitchell's a try. Food was okay, service slow. But the reason I give them 1 star has to do with their $700 minimum. I called a few days before the event to let them know I was 6 people short of my goal. I do not recall if they told me or if I assumed based on other restaurants I have dealt with but they refused to let me put the difference on a gift card. I had 9 people show. I called to discuss this with the manager and she shot me back an email. There is nothing in the contract prohibiting the purchase of a gift card.
Good food and decent service. I especially like the fresh oysters, the crab cake and the creme brulee.
This place offers old spinach and tiny portions of sea bass for a $37.00 price tag. Unbelievable that they are in business. Never again for me.
